PRIMARY SCHOOL - Peterchurch Primary School ended the Christmas term with a lovely performance by the children of Angels on High. This was enjoyed by all who attended and took part. The PTA provided coffee and mince pies afterwards. On the last morning of term, a theatre group performed Robin Hood for the children and this was followed by a Christmas Lunch and Disco. The school has been as busy as ever. Class 1 had a visit from Heather Buchanan, author and illustrator of the Matilda Mouse Books and parents were invited along to buy books signed by Heather Buchanan for their children after the session. The whole school took part and learned circus skills recently. Some parents also participated along with the children. Later that day all the skills were displayed for parents to watch.Tai-Chi sessions now take place at school on a Tuesday at 8.30am. This is for pupils and parents alike and a great chance to learn this ancient art which aids concentration and focus. The juniors are involved in a creative dance workshop with a dance teacher which will last 10 weeks culminating with a performance at the end. There will be a numeracy evening on Tuesday, March 11, at 7pm for parents who wish to get advice on how to help their child with maths skills involving addition and subtraction. The school is also offering one-day courses on First Aid or Basic Food Hygiene to those interested. Today (Thursday) the whole School was taking part in various activities concerned with taking care of others and looking after themselves. Various people will be visiting and giving advice on: Helping the Police, The Church, Fire Safety, Stop Smoking, Heart-start, Road Safety, Basic First Aid, Sun Safety, Drug Education and 5 a Day Fruit and Veg. On Thursday February 12, BBC Hereford & Worcester will be broadcasting from the school in the afternoon as part of their birthday celebrations. On February 27, Flicks in the Sticks will be showing Finding Nemo at Peterchurch starting at 3.30pm. Admission is adults £2 Children £1.50. Refreshments will be available.
