COMMUNITY CENTRE - Bishopstone and District Group Parish Council comprising Bishopstone, Bridge Sollars, Byford, Kenchester and Mansell Gammage held a public meeting in the Lord Nelson Inn on Tuesday, February 27, starting at 7.30pm for persons interested in forming a committee to progress the concept of creating a Community Centre for the five villages. The meeting was addressed by Sue Brazendale of Community First whose very professional delivery expounded the benefits that may be derived from such a venture. Some 31 persons attended and they voted in Mr J Macklin as chairman, Miss S Hubbard as secretary and Mr D Macklin as treasurer. Mr J Macklin said he wanted at least one person from each village to be represented on the committee. It was agreed that the next meeting will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2004 starting at 7.30pm in the Lord Nelson Inn when it is hoped that all those persons wanting to be a committee member or interested in the concept or wanting to help in any way will attend.
PARISH COUNCIL - Bishopstone and District Group Parish Council will hold a dedicated meeting today (Thursday) in the Lord Nelson Inn to discuss the seven elements that comprise the framework of becoming a Quality Parish Council. The seven items are the electoral mandate, qualifications of clerk, council meetings, communication, annual reports, accounts and Code of Conduct.
PUBLIC FOOTPATH ORDER - A footpath in the parish of Bridge Sollars has had to be diverted owing to the construction of the new bridge over the River Wye. A copy of the Official Order and a map are posted on the notice boards at Bridge Sollars and Bishopstone. They may also be viewed at the Town Hall reception, St Owen Street, Hereford, between 9am and 4.30pm on weekdays.
WINTER GRITTING ROUTES - Herefordshire Council have published a leaflet showing all of their gritting routes for the county. Only the major roads are listed which means the A438 for the five villages.
