THE Hereford WRAC/ATS Association is a strongly attended branch and aims to help one another while enjoying each others company, remembering old times and looking forward to creating new memories. Fundraising for the branch and service charities figure high on the agenda. The Hereford branch is part of the Wales and West Midland District. The women of the Hereford branch of the WRAC/ATS Association have offered to host the Wales and West Area Reunion in Hereford on September 11, 2004. Branch secretary Evelyn Radford, who can be contacted at 14 Golden Post, Hereford, on 01432-277102, is actively seeking financial support or contribution/gift token towards for a grand raffle and wants to hear from anyone who can help. The women who are mainly in their 70s and 80s served their country during the last World War in many capacities; for example, in signals, driving and catering. They are themselves trying in their own way to raise funds through a stall and knitting. Any contribution would ease their workload and go towards what may be their last reunion. The following year, 2005, will be the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This is a good opportunity to thank them for all they have done. The cost to each member is £15 and it is hoped to raise £5,000 in total. Monies raised will go towards subsidising the cost (as many are on pensions only) and also to enhance the day with those extra things to make it special.
