TWO sons have written to MP Paul Keetch asking for better conditions for cyclists after their father was killed in a road accident as he was cycling along Breinton Road, Hereford.
Nathan and Ben Gillett collected over 100 signatures to add to their letter from friends, colleagues and relatives, who attended a memorial gathering for Green Party campaigner David Gillett, of Park Street, Hereford, at Lingen Village Hall.
Nathan, aged 28, said the letter addressed an issue very close to his father's heart.
"My dad was involved with many environmental projects ranging from organic foods to general Green Party issues, but transport safety was one area he really focussed on," he said.
"Through his work for Sustrans - a group that encourages people to walk, cycle and use public transport - he hoped to reduce motor traffic in and around Hereford."
