AN indoor skate park could finally be a reality in Hereford city centre.
After the proposed Rockfield Road site fell through last year, Heath Crosby, a 33-year-old snowboarder and skater from the city, is hoping to create another park near TGS Bowling in Station Approach.
A half-pipe and a street course would challenge the county's extreme-sport enthusiasts, who would be supervised at all times.
"If successful with the bank and the planning authorities, I would like to do this properly and provide a safe and warm environment for people to come and enjoy their skating," said Mr Crosby.
"I want parents to feel confident that they can drop their children off and leave them here without having to worry about their safety."
Mr Crosby has received support from Hereford MP Paul Keetch, who believes a skate park would be a great benefit to the city.
"I get many complaints from people about skateboarders using public places like Hereford's bus station, and it seems to me that an indoor park is the best solution," explained Mr Keetch.
"Not only would this provide somewhere to skate but it would be a useful additional community facility."
"Heath certainly has my backing and I am sure my Lib Dem colleagues on the council, who have backed previous attempts, will be supporting him with his endeavours," he added.
