Leominster Mayor Janet Atkinson is calling on youth, parents, community leaders, publicans and the police to help put a stop to what have become known in Leominster as 'Fighting Fridays'.

The town centre has suffered drink-fuelled nights of trouble which continue into the early hours.

"The town is having to pay the cost in terms of vomit everywhere, smashed windows and extra pressure on the police," she said.

"There is growing concern - its not right that the town should have to suffer from this kind of behaviour."

Ms Atkinson is also calling on a Leominster nightclub not to repeat an offer of a '£10 all-in' ticket which includes unlimited drinks.

Euphoria Nightclub said it had only twice offered a £10 ticket, which included unlimited drinks - similar to offers made by clubs in Hereford and elsewhere - though the mayor claimed the drinks deal had been offered more frequently.

The club said there were no plans to repeat it as it created too many problems.

A spokeswoman said the club was stringent in its policies on alcohol. It stopped serving customers or asked them to leave if they drank too much.

The club welcomed community initiatives on alcohol problems and would work with others.

"Everyone has got to join together," she added.
