BUSINESSES in Herefordshire are being invited to tee off for a children's charity in June.
The Acorns Children's Hospice Trust's first golf day is being organised to boost a £4 million fundraising appeal to build a new hospice for life-limited children in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
Business from across the three counties are invited to enter teams of up to four players for the 18-hole event, which takes place at Worcestershire Golf Club on Thursday, June 6.
"We already have nearly 20 businesses taking part in our first ever golf day, but there are places left for a few more teams. The event promises good company, good food and good golf," said organiser Chris Price.
He added: "The day also provides local businesses with the opportunity to support a worthwhile local charity which cares for children who, sadly, are unlikely to reach adulthood. We hope the golf day will become an annual event."
Organisers also want to hear from companies that would like to sponsor the event's champagne reception or prizes for the tournament winners.
Funds for the hospice, to be built in Worcester, are urgently needed so building work can begin this autumn.
