CHAMPAGNE corks have been popping across the county for Acorns Children's Hospice as its fundraising appeal to build a new hospice smashes £1million.
Acorns chief executive John Overton said: "To be at this point, just five months after launching the Three Counties Appeal, is a real tribute to the commitment of local people who are as determined as we are to see the new hospice become a reality."
The massive support means building should start on time with the 10-bed hospice that will boast a hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory room and facilities for babies, young children and teenagers, opening in 2004.
