PLANS to extend Hatton Park Stores are being opposed by Bromyard Town Council.
Four letters from concerned residents of Hatton Park Road were read to councillors at a meeting on Monday.
The current owners of the convenience store plan to use the proposed extension as a store room, with access from Hatton Park Road.
Residents of the private road raised a number of concerns about the plan, notably concerns about delivery lorries blocking the narrow road, preventing access for emergency services and residents.
Concerns were also raised regarding the up-keep of the road surface, which objectors feel may be damaged by delivery lorries, as well as the potential obstruction caused by an increased number of cars parking in the area whilst using the store.
Councillors decided to object to the plan on the grounds that Hatton Park Road is a private road and the extension would cause an obstruction.
Their view will be passed to Herefordshire Council, which will decide on planning permission. The council also intends to forward residents' letters to the northern area planning committee.
A number of other planning applications were also discussed.
Support was given to a scheme to add first-floor accommodation to a bungalow at 22 Lower Thorn.
An application for a proposed equine and sheep dog training centre at The Sturts Farm, Winslow, also won support, along with plans to convert an existing shop at 23 High Steet into two units, including alterations to the frontage.
However, objections were raised to plans for a detached home on land adjoining 44 New Road, on the grounds that it was over-development.
