A Family trust has offered an ancient account of the Battle of Ledbury to the town council for £750.
The framed and partially illuminated account of the 1645 clash, in 17th or 18th century English, was loaned to the council in June last year and has been on display since in the Painted Room.
It appears to be an old transcription from a book called Corbet's Military Government.
The trust has informed the council that the account has been valued at £1,200 for insurance purposes.
The council's finance and general purposes committee discussed the offer to buy the document at the meeting on Thursday and it will be further considered by full council on February 19.
