The Rice Cake organic grocery shop in the Homend Mews has decided to give surplus food approaching its sell by date to Ledbury Comm-unity Hospital.
Shop partner Michael Lever said: "When groceries approach their sell-by date, most shops either reduce the price to try and sell them off, or throw them away, even though the food may be perfectly edible.
"This seems a waste, so we have decided to give our surplus products to Ledbury Hospital.
"We already given them gluten-free cakes and various items, and we will continue to give them stuff in the future, whenever the occasion arises."
If any other organisation in the area is interested in receiving similar donations, they should contact the shop on 01531 635860.
