Ledbury Town's new management team of Ian Ford and Kevin Barry, who have replaced Paul Wilband, enjoyed a winning start with a 2-1 West Midlands League Premier Division Cup first round win at county rivals Kington Town.
Robbie Colwell struck twice in the first period to give Ledbury a convincing half-time lead but Kington hit back strongly after Matt Morris had reduced arrears although they were unable to score again despite heavy pressure.
Ledbury will now face Malvern Town in the second round and a tie with Malvern is also the reward for Bromyard Town in the semi-finals of the Smedley Cooke Cup after a 3-1 win over Blackheath on Tuesday night.
Bromyard fell behind early on but hit back through Gareth McCarthy, Chris Allen and an own goal.
