Wellington 2 Lye Town 2
WELLINGTON fought back from a two-goal deficit to share the points with visiting Lye Town as both teams looked for all three points to keep in touch with the top teams in a very competitive West Midlands League Premier Division.
Lye took advantage of a mistake at the back to take the lead, left-back Andrew Morgan misjudging the flight of a long ball over the top for Matt Blackmoor to nip in and fire home.
A second goal followed in the 29th minute when Luke Newall's speculative shot from outside the box was well covered by goalkeeper Marcus Priday but took a late deflection to trickle over the line.
Simon Pitt almost pulled a goal back when he cut in from the left but just pulled his shot wide.
Just before the break Pitt sent over a perfect cross, which was met at the far post by Peter Wallace, who netted with an unstoppable header.
Wellington took control after the interval and levelled when Wallace headed down Andrew Morgan's cross for central defender Michael Craig to sweep home his first-ever goal for the club.
Further pressure could not produce a goal and the teams had to settle for a draw.
