Leominster provided the day's shock result in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division when they notched their first win of the season at Sutton.

It was the town side's first win in their 14 games so far this season, dealing a heavy blow to the villagers' hopes of a top three finish.

Leominster's mixture of youth and experience made an enthusiastic opening and went in front from an Ellis Langford free-kick.

After Steve Miles had levelled for Sutton, Leominster still pressed forward with James Lines' efforts in attack proving a constant threat.

Finally, with seconds remaining, Neil Ellis played the ball into the Sutton penalty area where Luke Jones reacted first by diving to plant a spectacular low header past the home goalkeeper.

Pegasus, who began the day in second-from-bottom position, also enjoyed improved fortunes with a goalless draw at Woofferton.

The young Pegasus side battled bravely and Danny Green, who has been out of action with a double fracture of his leg, was outstanding in the visitors' defence.

At the other end of the table, reigning champions Wellington Rangers took advantage of leaders Ewyas Harold's enforced absence - their game at Ross United Services was called off - to move back to the top after a convincing 4-0 success over Hinton.

Wellington took the lead after 10 minutes following good work by Mark Hole who crossed to the far post for Michael Craig to net from close range.

Cory Hyde, who might have had a hat-trick in the first period, then added the second before the interval.

Wellington's Lee Preece was sent off for a professional foul at the start of the second period but this did not throw the title-chasers out of their stride and man-of-the-match Andy Williams added the third.

Craig Sewell then rounded off the scoring with a header to leave Wellington two points clear at the top, although second-placed Ewyas Harold, whom they entertain on Saturday, have two games in hand.

Westfields' revival goes on with the city club notching their fifth successive win in a 6-1 success over Weston, a run which has seen them score 25 goals and concede just three.

Such a convincing victory seemed highly unlikely at half-time on Saturday, however, after Adrian Wigmore's goal had put the South Herefordshire side, who had dominated the first period, in the ascendancy.

Manager Pete Williams' half-time team-talk had the desired effect on his side, though, and West-fields levelled shortly after the break with a superb finish by Wes Owen.

The introduction of substitute Lee Mussell then turned the game on its head with the youngster coolly putting the visitors ahead from a Mark Mortlock pass.

Mortlock then flicked on a Steve Slade throw for John Williams to fire in the third and Slade was the provider again for Mussell's second, sending over a cross which the 16-year-old volleyed in from 12 yards.

Mussell completed his hat-trick within 20 minutes of his arrival on the pitch when put through by Mortlock, taking his tally for the season to 13 in nine matches, and Slade added number six with a powerful 25-yard shot after good work by Williams.

Fownhope also staged a dramatic revival by overturning a 2-0 deficit against Lads Club to go on to win 4-3.

Lads Club had the better of the first period and, after Fownhope's Stuart Jennings had saved a James Howard penalty, Kingsley Lawson put the city side ahead with a spectacular volley.

Jason Fry extended the lead with a free-kick after the interval before Fownhope fought back to level when John Morris twice set-up Matt Goodall.

A rare left-footed strike by Morris then put the villagers ahead but Lads Club seemed to have secured a point when Ric Real headed in four minutes from time.

Fownhope continued to press forward, however, and their enterprise paid off in injury time when Goodall popped up to complete his hat-trick and earn the three points which takes his side up to fourth place in the table.
