WHACKY WALKERS - Meet in the car park of the Boat Inn at Whitney-on-Wye at 11am on Saturday. Walk rated easy with no stiles and timed at approx 1hr 30mins.

PASSING PLACES - It was reported to the parish council that a new vehicle passing place will be made at the end of Bishopstone village nearest to the Garnons and before the crossroads during February of this year. All the vehicle passing places between Bishopstone and Kenchester will be made good during June/July of this year. This work is the result of the public meetings held last year.

10 YEAR PLAN - The 10 year plan has been produced in draft form and is now being fine tuned in readiness for its final approval by Herefordshire Council.

QUALITY PARISH STATUS - A discussion on whether to proceed further and try to obtain quality parish status took place with some of the advantages and disadvantages being stated. After some time it was decided to hold a special meeting to discuss the subject more deeply and to have more information available. The council would then be able to make a positive decision for the future. The meeting was arranged for February 5 at 7.30pm in the Lord Nelson Inn.

COMMUNITY CENTRE - The parish council meeting was advised that a notice will be sent to all households in the five villages comprising the Parish Group. Meeting in the Lord Nelson Inn on Tuesday at 7.30pm to discuss the future of a community centre for the five villages, it was hoped the meeting would be well attended.

LEISURE LEARNING - The opportunity for residents of the five villages to participate in learning courses, held locally, is now possible it was reported. A list of the courses available will be posted to all households asking them to enrol in the classes of their choice.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT OFFICER - The new community support officer with West Mercia Constabulary, Rebbeca Williams, was unable to make her first appearance at the Parish Council meeting held last Thursday.

NEW PARISH COUNCILLOR - Following the resignation of a Bishopstone councillor a vacancy has now come into being. Notices will be posted on Bishopstone notice board for interested persons to register.

PLANNING PERMISSION - It was reported that planning permission had been granted to:- 1 Primrose Cottages, Byford for a two-storey extension to rear. The Old Pavilion, Byford for extension to garage to provide a granny annexe. Lady Southampton Chapel, Kenchester for conservatory to rear of building. Bromleigh, Bishopstone for alterations and extensions. Barns at Court Farm, Mansell Gammage to create four new dwellings.
