THE regeneration of a north Herefordshire market town is back on track this week.
There had been fears that projects in Kington would be shelved following an announcement by Advantage West Midlands and its partner organisation the Rural Regeneration Zone last month.
At the time the chairman of Kington Area Regeneration Partnership, Bob Widdowson, said efforts to give the town a facelift had been 'sabotaged' when AWM refused their bid for funding.
But he now reports that discussions between the two organisations have found a way forward for the projects already in motion.
"It is at least a start and it means that nothing has got to stop at this minute. But we have still got to find additional money so we have a bit of a battle ahead," said Kington area regeneration co-ordinator, Lyn Bright.
Schemes such as setting up the town's website, community pride, tourism, debt redemption, youth forum, building capacity, business development, life-long learning and community transport will all benefit from the funding.
Mr Widdowson said: "With the assistance of AWM we have been able to find a way forward and it seems that funding will be available for the projects that are currently being undertaken.
"We still have to try and secure additional funding for new projects and the partnership will be working hard to do this in the coming months."
