FANS of Richard III will keenly flock to Pudleston Village Hall this Saturday to hear Richard Derrington (aka Mark Hebden of The Archers fame) present his unusual twist on the traditional telling of the tale of Shakespeare's most villainous villain.
The one-man-show My Kingdom for a Horse is told through the eyes of a character in Richard's court, Dickon Broom.
Illegitimate - or legitimate - son of Richard, the character Dickon is based on a peasant woodcutter in Kent, who died in penniless but mysterious circumstances.
Derrington makes the most of the gaps in the history books.
"The great joy is I can put Dickon Broom where I like!" said the writer.
"The Battle of Bosworth and at the crowning of Richard - both at which he may well have been.
"There's precious little evidence that Richard III did nearly all of the things he's blamed for.
"My show gives a glimpse of what the real Richard may have been like."
Having toured the world with his previous one-man-show, Taylor's Tickler, the idea for My Kingdom For A Horse came about 10 years ago.
And now, at last, Kent's least famous bricklayer and part-time peasant gets to tell his tale.
