DEFENDING champion Carol Brown had to settle for second place in the British Blind Shooting Championships at the National Indoor Centre, Wolverhampton.
She was one of six shooters from Hereford's Royal National College for the Blind who took part in the competition with mixed results.
Carol shot 592 points out of a possible 600 to finish just two points behind new champion Ali Burt, of Aberdeen, in Class A and beat club-mate Abbas Hussain on a countback for second spot. Alex McNeil and Dave Marshall Morgan also competed in Class A.
There was success for another Hereford shooter, Carolyn Marno, who was Class B champion by a comfortable 10-points margin and winner of the junior championship.
The 17-year-old, who only started acoustic shooting last September, scored 593 to finish runner-up in the British Championship overall and earned a place in the GB team to shoot in the European Championships in Holland in May.
Jack Goodfellow was fifth in Class B.
Scores for Hereford shooters (ex 600): 593 Carolyn Marno, 592 Carol Brown, Abbas Hussain, 572 Alex McNeil, 569 Jack Goodfellow, 559 Dave Marshall Morgan.
