A LEOMINSTER cook is preparing to become a 'souper' star after she beat hundreds of other applicants to become the new face of Campbell's.
Jean Waters will appear on the famous soup cans along with her own recipe after she won a national competition run by the Hereford Times.
Describing herself as a good plain cook, Mrs Waters, aged 70, said: "I suppose I'm more of a Delia Smith than Nigella Lawson.
"My mother, being a farmer's wife, taught me the art of home cooking so I was brought up knowing about quality ingredients.
"While I enjoy cooking things like traditional roast meats, casseroles and puddings I often make up my own recipes and Campbell's soup is brilliant as it's so versatile."
Her recipe is called Mrs Waters Turkey Surprise Bake, which has evolved over the years to become a firm favourite of her family.
The prospect of fame certainly doesn't bother the semi-retired relief cook.
Mrs Waters, formerly of Grandstand Road, Hereford, has already been a film extra and taken part in the television programme The Farmer Wants a Wife.
