JOHN BELL made some interesting and pertinent observations and is understandably exasperated by the lack of consultation time allowed by the council.
Having travelled along the roads in the area in light goods vehicles, I have no doubt these roads are incapable of taking the volume of HGVs suggested.
Indeed, this was demonstrated a few weeks ago by four lorry drivers who showed conclusively that HGVs using these roads, especially Stoney Street, Madley, are going to cause enormous disruption, as the excellent coverage by the Hereford Times clearly revealed.
Many articles and letters in recent editions of the Hereford Times have shown real concern that our council is not listening to the public it serves.
Naturally any new initiative will cause some opposition but it's most disquieting to find such a significant proportion of local people who feel their opinions count for nothing in 'modern Hereford'.
With a considerable escalation in council tax forecast (way above inflation), many have questioned what our money is being used to finance.
