MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid a busy road in Leominster when major tree surgery operations get underway.
Herefordshire Council's parks service said work on three large plane trees at Westfield Walk, Leominster, which starts on Monday (January 26) was expected to take a week.
The work, which will be undertaken by JA Fisher Tree Surgery, will result in the temporary closure of sections of one lane at Westfield Walk and, for a short time, the road at the junction of Westcroft.
A council spokesman said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users. It would be advisable to avoid this route during the week if at all possible. It is hoped that the work will prolong the lives of the planes and ensure they are safe roadside trees."
