Dial-a-Ride in Newent has opened a one-stop shop in the former Toy Zone store in Church Street.
The shop is open Monday to Friday, from 9.15am to 1pm, but hours could be extended to 5pm with more volunteers.
Dial-a-Ride is open to people over 60 without a car, such as pensioners who cannot cope with heavy shopping on conventional public transport.
Dial-a-Ride manageress Lynne Mayo said clients could to book a ride at the centre, where they could also wait for their bus to arrive in safety and warmth.
There are tea and coffee- making facilities available on site, for a small donation.
The shop, which opened on Monday (January 12), also functions as a sales area for craft goods manufactured at the Sheppard House Day Centre. A VIP is being sought for the official opening in the near future.
Newent Dial a Ride currently operates seven minibuses. For further details, ring 01531 821227.
