LUCTONIANS Rugby Club will be bidding to reach the quarter-finals of the Powergen Intermediate Cup for the first time when they take on Bradford & Bingley at Kingsland on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.

But it will also be their toughest test of the season against a Bees team who are top of North 1 with only one defeat in 14 games which have produced 706 points against 441.

It is only the second time that Luctonians have reached the last 16 in the eight seasons of the Intermediate Cup.

Bradford, on the other hand, are the most experienced campaigners left in the national competition, this being their 23rd cup tie. They reached the quarters last season before losing 23-17 at Cheltenham.

Luctonians will be aiming to put last weekend's disappointing Midlands 1 performance at Whitchurch behind them, but are under no illusions about the strength of the resourceful Yorkshire opposition.

"It is a massive task against a well-moneyed side," said Luctonians director of rugby Simon Green-Price.
