Presteigne 4
Waterloo Rovers 4
AFTER two fine away wins, 5-2 at Rhayader and 3-0 at Llanidloes, Presteigne were confident of further success against bottom-club Waterloo in the Spar Mid Wales League.
But Waterloo belied their lowly position and an exciting game could have gone either way.
Chris Jones fired in a Willie Lindesay pass to give Presteigne the lead but the visitors hit back strongly to lead at the interval.
Shortly after the break, player-manager Robbie Gore equalised from the penalty spot and Jones restored the border club's lead after Tony Richards' shot had been saved.
After Presteigne's Michael Hayes had been sent off, Waterloo levelled the scores but Presteigne thought they had snatched the points when Richards netted in a last-minute goalmouth scramble only to concede a further equaliser two minutes into stoppage time.
Presteigne Reserves also suffered a disappointment, going down 2-0 to Radnor Valley in the Spar Mid Wales League South.
In their previous outing, the Reserves had beaten Knighton, who went through 2003 unbeaten, 2-1 in their first game of the New Year.
