Solihull 1 Hereford 2
TWO late goals earned Hereford Under-14 Schools an important win over the reigning champions in the West Midlands Schools League.
Chances were few and far between in an evenly-contested first period but Solihull left-winger Simon Carter produced three quality crosses and from one of these Sam Jordan scored with the Hereford defence hesitating.
With centre-back Adam Bendle and right-back Joe Mohan dominating defensively, Hereford conceded few other opportunities but, although they won a few corners at the other end, failed to threaten the home goal.
Hereford finally equalised 10 minutes from the end when James Upcott received a lovely through ball from Steve Smith, held off a challenge and clipped the ball into the roof of the net.
Joe Myatt and Sam Dixon both had shots blocked before Upcott was fouled as he chased another pass into the penalty area.
Craig Jones calmly converted the penalty and Hereford dominated the last five minutes to claim a deserved win.
