Wootton Bassett Town 1 Pegasus Juniors 2
PEGASUS made their second successful trip to Wiltshire in two weekends when they completed their first Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division double of the season over Wootton Bassett Town.
The home side made the early running with Pegasus not producing a serious attack until the 15th minute. Then loan signing from Cinderford Town Lewis Summers sent over a cross which Neal Hotchkiss headed just wide of a post.
Soon after, however, Wootton Bassett were awarded a penalty after two of their players ran into each other and although Scott Hodgetts saved Geoff Swatton's kick, he was unable to hold on to the ball and the home player followed up to net.
Pegasus battled back strongly and levelled before halftime when Lawrence Helme crossed to the near post for Rob Laurie to head home.
With only occasional chances being created at either end, a draw seemed the likely outcome until home goalkeeper Richard Stevens was only able to palm away a Helme cross and Mike Symonds thundered the ball home from 12 yards.
The Pegasus defence, in which new signing Paul Brown was outstanding, then did well to hold on to the win.
