COMPUTER CLASS - The computer class for beginners, held before Christmas in Skenfrith Parish Hall, was over all too soon.Tutor Jan Sheppard had everyone making Christmas cards during the last class. This was a U-Can Do IT course, funded by the New Opportunities Commission and the six-week starter course was free. It is hoped to start an evening class for beginners in Skenfrith Hall, starting after half-term. But to be worthwhile, a minimum of of six people need to take part. Anyone interested in finding out more about the classes can contact Shirley Jones on 01600-750698.
RURAL CINEMA PILOT SCHEME - Some months ago, leaflets were distributed in the Skenfrith area to find out people's views on bringing films to the village hall. There was certainly a lot of interest shown and completed forms were duly returned to Monmouthshire Council. Before Christmas, some of the village hall committee met with Francine Phillips, from Monmouthshire County Council, to discuss the rural cinema scene further and they learned that Skenfrith was one of the villages chosen for the pilot scheme. A date for the trial has been set for Saturday, February 28, when the film Chocolat will be shown in Skenfrith Parish Hall.
