CRICKET CLUB - The latest winners in the last 2003 draws for the Cricket Club supporters 100 Club are: A Sapsford £25; R Hughes £15; J Duggan £10 in November, and John Duggan £25; Mrs V Battenti £15 and Mr R Williams £10 in December. The club would like to thank everyone who has participated in 2003 and hope that club members will continue their support in the current year.
WHIST CLUB - On Tuesday, January 6, the first of the Almeley Whist Club games 2004, took place in Almeley Village Hall. Organisers Sandra and Allan Payne, assisted by MC to Mr I Morgan, Mrs M Pritchard, Mr M Hughes, Mr J Allen, Mrs M Gates, Mrs M Fenton, Mrs S Turner and Mrs D Dyke. The next whist drive will be held in the village hall on Tuesday at 7.45pm.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE - When the Almeley Women's Institute held their annual meeting, Mrs Jenny Hibbert was elected as president, following the highly successful four years of presidency held by the retiring president Mrs Liz Russell. The show, organised by Mrs M Hughes, was very well supported and the standard of entries was high. These included cooking, handicrafts and floral creations, and were judged by Mrs Margaret Whittle. Members will meet today (Thursday) at 12.15pm for a lunch outing.
CINEMA - The film Chicago is the next Flicks in the Sticks to be staged in the Almeley Village Hall, on Thursday, January 22, at 7.30pm. The 12A certificate film is an enegetic adaptation of the Broadway musical. Bar and refreshments are available.
