THE flag at Herefordshire Golf Club flew at half-mast this week in memory of retired greenkeeper Tom Kingsland.
Tom served the club loyally for 40 years, rising to the position of head greenkeeper.
A true countryman at heart, he was not only known for his greenkeeping skills, but also as an exhibitor of prize-winning flowers and vegetables at local shows.
After his retirement, Tom was still available to help the golf club when needed and pass on his expert knowledge.
Aged 69, he collapsed and died while beating on a local shoot.
The funeral is at St Mary's Church, Kings Pyon, on Tuesday, January 20, at 12.15pm.
