Bishop's School 24 pts Llandovery 17
Two tries each for centres Dan Thomas and Simon Sabel ensured that Bishop's School began their Spring term with a win from a hard-fought and physical battle.
Thomas and Sabel both crossed for tries within the first 10 minutes but the visitors responded with two converted tries and a penalty as Bishop's, reduced to 14 players due to a sinbin, found the odds against them.
Sabel and Thomas again went over, however, as the seven-man Bishop's pack battled well to stay ahead.
But some strong defending was still necessary in the last five minutes as Bishop's, by now back to 15 players, came under intense pressure.
l Hereford Under-17 were without seven regulars for the visit of Dudley Kingswinford on Sunday but still turned in an excellent performance to emerge with a 14-0 win. On an adjacent pitch, the club's Under-16 did even better against their Dudley Kingswinford equivalents, running in eight tries in a 44-0 win.
Hereford Under-17: tries - Luke Clifford, James Wooles; cons - Richard Rees (2). Hereford Under-16: tries - Simon Sabel (2), Mark Lee (2), Luke Malone, Morgan Goodall, Ryan Ellis, Beau Bierre; cons - Sean Day, Morgan Goodall.
