Ledbury 20 pts Silhillians 23
LEDBURY saw a half-time lead overturned as they went down to a home defeat against a skilful Silhillians side in Midlands 3 West (South).
The home side made an excellent start with Henry Blandford providing the pass for Darren Lynch to score under the posts.
A careless penalty conceded cut the margin to 7-3 and although Ledbury's Barrett Price also slotted over a penalty, Silhillians quickly responded from another needless penalty to make it 10-6.
The visitors then took the lead with a good try from their full-back, but Ledbury were back in front 17-11 at the turnaround after Matt Williams sneaked in for a rare try following good work by Denver Rollins.
The second period began badly for Ledbury with James Handley sin-binned and Silhillians sending over another penalty to cut the arrears. But when Handley returned to the field, Darren Lynch was then yellow-carded for persistent offending and the game entered a crucial spell in which Silhillians added a further 10 points.
Although Barrett Price slotted over another penalty to set up a frantic last 10 minutes, Silhillians held on for a win which kept Ledbury firmly at the wrong end of the table.
