DECEMBER'S meeting of The Royal Air Forces Association Hereford Branch took place in the Railway Club, this was the annual Christmas party, organised by branch chairman, Mike Wigmore. Members sat down to a buffet meal and the members are grateful to the hard work that the staff put in providing the meal. Entertainment was provided by the St John's Methodist Brass Band, under the batonship of Al Bottomley. Al delighted his audience with his rendering of Yorkshire Pudding. The carol singing was of its usual standard, and enjoyed by members. Volunteers from the audience, Jill Burton, Jean Mason and Eric Churchus joined members of the band in a version of Dick Whittington and his Cat. The entertainment concluded with Derek Parson'monologue, entitled Christmas shopping, in which he extolled the delights, or otherwise, of the annual torture inflicted on the male population by their partners. The band and Derek was thanked by the chairman. The evening concluded with an in-house draw. Andy Williams was the MC. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 21, when the speaker will be Sqn Ldr Scott from RAF Innsworth. Members are reminded that subscriptions are now due and that Bob Craig, who has succeeded Eric Churchus, as membership secretary will be on hand to receive them. Thanks are due to Eric for his time as membership secretary.
