Whitecross Townswomens Guild members were treated to a most unexpected unique journey into the beginning of music clubs in 1720 - culminating in the first Three Choirs Festival at Gloucester Cathedral in 1766. This talk by Mrs Barbara Young gave a fascinating history of the birth of chorus singing from which evolved the annual Three Choirs Festival which is now world famous. Mrs Young was thanked by Yvonne Elwell. June Timson asked for ideas for a new project at the meeting of Arts & Crafts.The monthly coffee morning was arranged for next Tuesday at the home of Doreen Morgan, and the first TGS Bowling Session scheduled forThursday, January 22. By popular demand, a Spring Luncheon will be arranged for February 19 at The Bell Inn, Tillington, and the possibility of a holiday in York was put forward for consideration. The competition of a miniature teapot was won by Margaret Sommerfield with Doreen Morgan second, and Hilda Vaughan third. Sybil Duval was welcomed as a new member. The chairman asked the members to consider nominations for the forthcoming annual meeting for new committee members and Guild Secretary. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4, at 7pm, at the Holy Trinity Institute, Whitecross Road, Hereford.
