WASTE Watchers stepped up their protests against a proposed multi-million pound recycling facility in the Golden Valley by driving more than 100 vehicles through Hereford city centre last Saturday morning.
The convoy, which included 20 lorries and well over a hundred cars, left Estech Europe Ltd's desired site at Stoney Street in Madley, before travelling along Belmont Road and turning back at the Edgar Street roundabout.
Group spokesperson Christine Johnson-Marshall said the demonstration had been a success and highlighted the perceived problems that would be created should councillors approve the scheme.
"The police warned us that our protest could be dangerous, owing to the number of cars involved," she explained.
"So what does that say about the proposed waste treatment plant which would bring even more vehicles along these roads every day?"
