THERE is another delay in the opening of a new M.E/CFS clinic in Hereford.
It is now likely to be March before county sufferers receive the specialist service nearer home.
But the good news is that the clinic will be run from Hereford County Hospital rather than from Herefordshire Primary Care Trust headquarters, which is based at Belmont.
Members of the ME group and the consultant who will be in charge - Dr Alistair Millar - have always preferred the hospital, because of easier access.
Confirming the delay until March, Euan McPherson, of the PCT, said it was mostly due to settling details of its location and for Dr Millar, who is based in Kidderminster, to rearrange his clinical commitments.
ME sufferers from Herefordshire travel to the clinic in Kidderminster and that would continue until the new facility opens on a monthly basis in Hereford.
"Herefordshire PCT is pleased to be able to locate the new clinic in Hereford so that travelling times will be greatly reduced and to raise the profile for M.E/CFS patients within the county,'' said Mr McPherson.
