DAVID Brown admits Telford United's treatment of Jake King was a key reason in his move to Edgar Street.
King's dismissal prompted Brown to seek a new challenge despite being offered more money to stay at the Shropshire club.
The two teams meet at Edgar Street on Tuesday night for the first time since Brown's departure though he's unlikely to start after enduring a frustrating start to his Hereford career.
The summer signing missed a chunk of pre-season following a freak collarbone injury and has seen Rob Purdie forge a partnership alongside Steve Guinan up front.
Nevertheless Brown is eagerly awaiting Tuesday's clash with his former club.
"It's always nice to play against your old team but obviously getting injured in pre-season means I'm likely to be on the bench because I haven't broken through yet," said Brown.
"However it should be a good game," he added. "They've spent a lot of money on players over the summer and brought in some good ones."
Brown scored 16 goals for the Bucks last season and could have remained at the New Bucks Head Stadium club but King's departure prompted a move to Hereford.
"I had a good time there it was just a shame the manager was sacked," said Brown.
"I didn't agree with that at the time and in many respects my choosing to leave was down to that.
"The club wanted to keep me and offered me more money to stay but it was not right for me and I wanted a new challenge and got that with Hereford."
The ex-Manchester United player has seen Hereford make a flying start to their Conference campaign and Brown concedes he can have no beef about not being picked - however frustrating it is.
"You never want to be sitting on the bench it's a bit of a waste of time because your whole training is geared to getting ready to play on Saturday," he added.
"But though it is frustrating I can't really argue with it. It's not as if I can go knocking on the door demanding to play when we've won seven out of eight.
"But I've got to accept it and I'm sure that when I do get in I can become an important factor."
There have been some highpoints for Brown, though, notably his spectacular last minute winner against Aldershot in their memorable 4-3 on Bank Holiday Monday. "It was a bit special to score a goal like that in front of the home fans," admitted Brown.
