LAST year an incredible 111 county bikers left a city pub to ride 200 miles in aid of sick children. Their colourful machines are pictured outside the Rose and Crown in Ledbury Road, where it is hoped the scene will be repeated this month.

Hereford Motorcycle Club has renewed its appeal for charity riders to sign up for its fourth annual rally on Sunday, May 5, to raise funds for the Acorns Children's Hospice Trust.

Last year's run raised more than £6,000 for the charity. Organisers are hoping to smash the amount this time and donate the cash to the Three Counties £4 million fundraising appeal to build a new hospice in Worcester for life-limited children.

Riders will be waved off from the pub, on their journey to Llangurig, via Aberystwyth and Llandovery, by Hereford mayor, Sue Andrews, during the morning.

Treasurer of Hereford Motorcycle Club, Barry Morgan, said: "We'd like to invite all motorcyclists to join us on Sunday to help raise as much money as we can for a worthwhile cause. We'll also be celebrating at the end of the journey with a barbecue at the Rose and Crown from 4pm, so even if you aren't a biker, you can still come and support the charity."
