THERE was a huge surge in donations from Herefordshire as the appeal for the new Three Counties Acorns Children's Hospice completed its second month.
In May the fund grew by £90,000, bringing the total amount raised so far for the 10-bed hospice planned for Worcester to £388, 246.
Public donations poured in totalling £38,246 and an anonymous donor wrote out a cheque for £50,000. Herefordshire alone raised £6,000 in public donations.
"We are absolutely delighted with the way the appeal is going. Public response is going from strength to strength and we are confident that the fundraising will grow even quicker over the coming months," said community fundraising co-ordinator, Fran Winterbourn.
She added: "The generosity of local people is fantastic and each month we are getting closer to the £4million target."
