A LITTLE acorn has grown into a big tree worth half a million pounds for terminally ill county children.
The totaliser tree for Acorns Children's Hospice has shot past its first major milestone, just three months after a £4million fundraising appeal for a new hospice was launched.
The appeal now stands at £538,246. Last month £150,000 poured in, including more than £62,000 from community fundraising.
Supporters in Herefordshire raised nearly £2,000, helping to make June the best month so far.
The new 10-bed hospice, to be built in Worcester, will offer respite care for 150 life-limited children in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
