SIX Specsavers dispensing assistants have set their sights on the Race for Life finishing line to raise valuable funds for Cancer Research UK.
Members of staff, Lisa Cullen, Tracy Clarke, Claire Watts, Carole Meredith, Kelly Quinn and Mandy Counley, have swapped their eye test charts for running shoes to limber up for the big day on Sunday, July 20.
Carole spurred the girls into action after her mum and sister decided to take part in memory of Carole's father who tragically lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.
The girls are particularly keen because they feel there is no pressure to 'run' and the 5km course is a reasonable distance to cover.
"It is something that we will probably do every year as an annual event," explained Carole.
The girls have even persuaded their boss to sponsor them in exchange for them wearing special Specsavers t-shirts.
Lisa Cullen said: "We simply can't wait to get going now. We've been running, swimming and walking after work and at weekends to make sure we can make it round the entire course and do our bit for such a worthy cause.
"We have been so well supported by our colleagues and friends - which has made a huge difference."
There are still places available for participants in the Race for Life, billed at Hereford Racecourse.
