AMATEUR TV buff extraordinary and former Ross Grammar School teacher, C Grant Dixon, has died at the age of 87.
Mr Grant Dixon, who lived for many years at Kyrle's Cross, Peterstow, was physics teacher at the school from 1950 to 1976.
He was a former chairman of the British Amateur Television Club and in 1955 built equipment and transmitted colour television on a closed circuit in his Ross-on-Wye home. It was the first time this had been done by an amateur anywhere in the world.
