Hinton 1
Bridgnorth Town Reserves 2
A DRAMATIC final six minutes saw Hinton lose to West Midlands League Division 1 South high-fliers Bridgnorth after holding a worthy lead for most of a very competitive encounter.
Returning to league action after a four-week break, Hinton made all the early running with Ross Semple only foiled by a last-ditch tackle after rounding the goalkeeper.
Hinton kept up the pressure and, after Phil Glover and Mike Marsden had gone close, deservedly took the lead in the 24th minute through John Williams who slotted home after a neat one-two with Luke Semple.
The visitors hardly had a look in as home central defenders Matt Aspey and Glover blocked them out, but in the final quarter the game changed as Bridgnorth pushed up to try to get back on terms.
With time running out, their persistence was rewarded with a close-range equaliser, following a goalmouth scramble, and with two minutes to go grabbed what proved to the winner with a similar goal.
The drama continued with Dave Spencer saving a Bridgnorth penalty in injury time and Hinton failing to secure a penalty when Ross Semple was brought down from behind as he surged into the box.
