Old Woodstock Town 1 Ross Town 0
ROSS Town's proud 20-game unbeaten run came to an end, despite one of their better recent performances, in this Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Division 1 West encounter.
Ross started brightly and David Skipp and Stuart Parker both went close with good shots before Skipp seemed to be pushed in the back as he rose to challenge for a Parker corner.
The referee waved away the Ross appeals, however, and instead awarded a spot kick at the other end shortly afterwards following a handball offence by Simon Gwilliam.
But Ross were reprieved when Brooks drove the spot-kick wide of Rich Newman's right-hand post.
After the interval, despite playing against a slope, Ross remained in control and squandered a host of chances. Shots from Skipp, Jamie Warwick, Gwilliam, Dean Blenkinsopp, Parker and Dewi Stuart were all kept out and an effort by Ian Price was saved by the goalkeeper's face.
In the end, Ross paid for their wastefulness when Woodstock broke out of defence and, in a rare raid, Please slid home a low centre.
