Hereford began their warm-up for the second half of the season with a 2-1 away defeat to Gloucester City 2nd in a friendly.
The home side took an early two-goal lead but after this Hereford largely controlled the game.
They were, however, unable to get a goal back until the closing stages when Andy Rogers netted following a short corner.
Hereford 4th gained a 3-2 win at Worcester 7th but needed a late goal from Phil Cottier to secure their victory.
Rob Wreyford gave Hereford the lead after some fine passing but, they were unable to add to their lead before the break.
A pin-point shot by Nigel Mundy eventually extended the margin but Worcester pulled a goal back before Chris Moody saw a penalty flick saved.
A deflected cross provided Worcester with an easy tap-in to level the scores but Hereford rallied for Cottier to grab the win ner.
