EAST RADNOR PARISH - Services for the coming week in the Parish of East Radnor are as follows: Sunday January 11 (The Baptism of Christ): 9.30am Sung Eucharist at Knighton (Father Andrew Pearce); 11am Sung Eucharist at Norton (Reverend Donald Green); 11am Sung Eucharist at Whitton (Father Andrew Pearce).
There is a daily Eucharist (Monday to Saturday) at Norton at 6pm except for Tuesday, January 13, when it will be at 11.30am. There is a mid-week celebration of the Eucharist at Knighton on Wednesday, January 14, at 10am.
SAINT EDWARD'S CHURCH - Ms Fay Exworth-Dent led Sunday Worship last Sunday at Saint Edward's Church. With Mrs Jean Price and Mrs Ann Robinson she led a reflective mediation on the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh presented by the Wise Men. Mr Kevin Kell and Mrs Hilary Howcroft read the lessons, and Mr Vera Wood led the intercessions. Mr Cecil Rudge was organist and Mrs Howcroft directed the choir.
METHODIST CHURCH - Morning Worship will be at 11am on Sunday at Knighton Methodist Church.
BAPTIST CHURCH - Worship for the Lord's Day at Knighton Baptist Church will be at 11am on Sunday). This service will be led by Mrs Margaret Davies of Knighton.
At Coxall Baptist Church (near Bucknell) there will be a service at 2.30pm with Miss Olive Rowett and at Knucklas Baptist Church there will be a service at 6.30pm which Mr Geoffrey Goodwin will lead.
CATHOLIC CHURCH - Mass is celebrated at 11am every Sunday at Knighton Catholic Church in Market Street.
COMMUNITY CENTRE - Farmers and Community Market: The next Farmers and Community Market will be at Knighton Community Centre on Saturday, January 24, from 10am to 1pm. The usual range of locally grown and produced items will be on sale, and stalls will include Knighton WI Market.
Burns Night Evening: Knighton Community Centre Management Committee is staging an evening of entertainment with a Burns Night theme at the Centre on Saturday, January 24. Katt Williams and other artists will provide the entertainment. The entrance fee include a traditional light meal of haggis and root vegetables. Tickets can be obtained from Councillor Trevor Johnson on 01547 528563, from committee members, from the Secretary or from the Bookings Secretary. Doors open at 7.30pm and the entertainment will begin at 8pm. There will be a licensed bar.
Model Aeroplane: Over the Christmas Holidays the Secretary found a 'Spinmaster' gas powered model aeroplane in the curtilage of the centre. It appeared to have landed on the roof and fallen off, and the tail section is missing. If anyone does wish to claim it, contact secretary Kevin Kell on 01547 528011.

WRITERS' GROUP -The writers' group will start up after the Christmas Holiday on Wednesday, January 14, at Saint Edward's Close Community Room at 2.45pm. The group will then meet on alternate Wednesday afternoons. Meetings last about two hours. Members read their own work and receive helpful comments from other members of the group.
