PARISH HALL - The annual meeting of Skenfrith Parish Hall is to be held on Thursday, January 22, in the hall at 8pm. All are welcome to attend. If you're willing to help with the various hall activities or to bring new ideas and put them into practice, you would be very welcome on the hall committee. Come along on and see what you think.
LOCAL HISTORY GROUP - the next meeting of the Bill MacAdam History Group is on Friday, January 16. There is a change of speaker for this meeting as Dr Bissell, who was to speak on old roads in the area, has to go into hospital. The speaker will now be Rachael Rogers of the Abergavenny Museum, who will give a talk on Abergavenny and the Castle from Roman times. The group meets at Hilston Park at 7.30pm and there is a charge of £1.50 per person to help cover costs.
SUPPER CLUB - the Supper Club holds its next get-together on Saturday, January 31 in the hall. The time is 7.30pm for 8pm, and you need to book in advance. Organiser Alan Jones is also hoping that people will be willing to pay in advance. This should make things a lot easier for him on the night. The caterer in January will be Jane White of Monmouth. The caterer is always paid for the number of meals booked so booking a meal is also a commitment to pay for that meal. Anyone not on the Supper club mailing list who would like to join should contact Alan Jones on 01600 750698. The sing-song after the Christmas meal was such a success that there will be another song-session in January, by popular request. Pam Pugh will organise the singing and David Phillips will play.
