THE Felindre WI President, Gwlithyn Gough, welcomed the members to the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, December 3, and Jerusalem was sung by the members, accompanied on the piano by Margaret Lewis. The meeting was tinged with sadness due to the death of Maureen Morgan so the members stood in silence for a moment. The president also welcomed the tellers for the evening, from Llanbadarn Fynydd WI, who were Joan Watson and Moira Davies. Marilyn Thomas was also in attendance in her capacity as a WI County Adviser. In her annual report Gwlithyn outlined the activities at county level and thanked the members for their support during her term of office. The secretary, Frances Morris, gave an account of the monthly meetings and guest evenings. The treasurer, Fay Payne, was unable to attend so Gwlithyn presented the financial statement for the year, reporting a healthy balance. The following Committee was elected Rhona Barnett, Dawn Gill, Gwlithyn Gough, Margaret Lewis, Joyce Matthews, Frances Morris, Barbara Reynolds, Jean Reynolds, Monica Thomas, Jennifer Reading. President Joyce Matthews; vice presidents Rhona Barnett and Dawn Gill; secretary Frances Morris; treasurer Dawn Gill; press secretary Rebe Brick; programme planner Frances Morris; hostess to Speaker Margaret Lewis; raffle and outing secretary Rhona Barnett. In her speech Barbara said that the WI, both at Institute and county level, had given her so much and that she had met so many interesting people and this was a small thank you. During the evening members had an opportunity to browse through the County Books and a festive supper provided by the outgoing committee was enjoyed by all.
