A THRILL seeking Hereford man will be hard pressed to top his latest accomplishment after doing the housework at the top of a mountain.
Swapping the keyboard for a different sort of board, on-line tutor Martin Morgan is an aficionado of the latest craze sweeping the country - extreme ironing.
Keen to pursue his peculiar pastime, he hit on the idea of starching his shirts at 2,633ft during a trip to the Lake District.
With back-up support from brother-in-law Matthew Wilce, Martin scaled the dizzy heights of The Old Man of Coniston while his wife, Catherine, baby daughter, Isabelle, and his parents-in-law enjoyed a quiet break.
Martin has been a member of the Extreme Ironing Bureau for six months, joining up after he saw a television programme featuring the unusual sport.
The 36-year-old tutor for Learn Direct said: "This was my first one, so it was virgin territory though I have watched my wife doing it and it didn't seem that difficult."
He also made rigorous preparations before his big day.
"I've taken the ironing board into the garden to get used to doing it outside - you've got to get some decent training in," he said.
The former Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat school pupil, said he had always been sporty but was not into any other extreme or dangerous sports.
"I fell off a scooter if that counts and I enjoy mountain biking as well - but it can get a bit dangerous with the flex trailing."
