MOVING the proposed multi-million pound waste processing plant from Madley to the Rotherwas Industrial Estate could be the key to solving many of the county's problems, says Hereford's Conservative parliamentary candidate Virginia Taylor.
The Tory hopeful believes that building Estech Europe Ltd's recycling facility in the city's principle industrial corner instead of off Stoney Street in the Golden Valley would 'kill three birds with one stone'.
With an existing refuse reclamation site already at Rother-was, Mrs Taylor said much of the county's waste services could be managed from the same or nearby site.
And with Estech's high-tech model following the Government's favoured method of recycling instead of landfilling, Mrs Taylor believes this would enhance the council's chances of gaining Whitehall's support for the Rotherwas relief road.
Justifying this claim, Mrs Taylor said: "The job opportunities and business spin-offs from the waste processing plant could help meet the employment and economic targets needed to persuade the Government that Rotherwas is essential as our premier industrial trading estate."
