DEMOCRACY is well and truly dead.
We might have feared it when our government took no notice of the millions of people on the street of London, as well as letters, but now the unelected Commissioners in Brussels are to take no notice of the elected EU Parliament over GM.
The Farmers Guardian, (December 26), writes how the European Commissioners are to go against the Parliament's wish for an EU-wide harmonisation of approach to GM crops. (Strange, as they want to harmonise everything else!)
The MEPs want responsibility of contamination to be upheld against those growing GM and they want counties/provinces to be allowed to choose to be GM-free if they wish.
It is expected that 'The Commissioners' will refuse this. A downward spiral to control by the powerful I fear.
